Happy Birthday Feathered Friends

It’s only right that my feathered ladies get a little props since it is almost their FIRST birthday and they have been working very hard all Fall and Winter giving us lots of eggs! For everyone who thought I was slightly insane for getting these fine ladies, well, you were right, I am TOTALLY NUTS, but I do love them and they have provided my whole family with lots of laughs and fun.  Here’s just a few pictures of our fun journey of life with them in our house last April to getting our first eggs in September!

Chickens were purchased from www.mypetchicken.com and we had great success with them.  They came the day after they were hatched directly to the post office where we picked them up.

Our shed/coop arriving!  We decided to go with a 8’X16′ shed that we modified into two spaces, one for the chicken coop area as well as an area for supplies & gardening tools. We purchased our shed from Mohawk Valley Sheds & Cabins

Hubby worked so hard building this run for the chickens.  We dug down around the whole run 24″ to predator-proof it with heavy gauge mesh that we carried over the top as well to prevent any hawks or predators to get in that way.IMG_1593

I choose to paint the interior of the coop with glossy outdoor paint so that it will be easier clean and spray or wipe it down.IMG_0008

The ladies getting their feet in the grass for the first time.  We chose a mixture of chicken breeds.  2 Golden Laced Wyanadottes, 2 Buff Brahmas, 1 Rhode Island Red, and 1 White Plymouth RockIMG_8961

The toddler weeks are not the most beautiful.IMG_0156IMG_0159

Getting introduced to their new sisters.  A friend of mine hatched some little ladies in her classroom and we gladly made them part of our family.  We added 3 Australrops and 3 Red Sexlinks.IMG_0150IMG_0052

Great find at an antique sale with these vintage egg boxes that we made into nesting boxes for the ladies.IMG_0873

Silly girl, still to this day will not use the boxes!  She insists on laying her eggs under the box.  She was my first layer.IMG_1359

Low and behold, September came and we got our first egg!  I’m sure my neighbors down the road heard my excitement when I found this little beauty!  Yes, she was also a double yolk-er!IMG_1325

Stitch Fix (Second Chance)

You can check out my LIVE box opening Heidi’s Happy Hour to see the whole reveal.

Round two on my Stitch Fix adventure!

If you want to try STITCH FIX, click here.

Round one was not successful, but round two is looking much better.  What went wrong on my first attempt…hmmm…well, I received mostly all petite sizing, and while I am short, I have long legs and a very awkwardly short mid-section, so petites rarely work for me.  The style of clothing was also a bit off for my taste.  I reevaluated my  parameters in the stitch fix app on my phone, took out all petite sizing, added more pins to my linked Pinterest board that more clearly stated my style -side note here, weird because I really don’t feel like I have a set style.  I’m sorta all over the board from classic, to trendy, athletic, to dressy-but anywho, I updated it all and gave the green light to my stylist Ashli for my next box.

What’s in the box?

Blazer: Love the shape/style, fit well, wasn’t crazy about the denim color for me and when/what I would wear it for.

Verdict: Sent back

Skinny Jean: I am in love with this jean!  I would have never picked this color for myself, but love it.  The top is elastic, like as in not maternity pant, maternity pant elastic…need I say more!  Fit was perfect for my curvy legs.  I am the queen of waste gap, leg fits or leg is so tight I can’t get into them, but the waist is perfect.  These were perfect in both areas.

Verdict: Keeper  edited…Sent back (loved them, but thought the color was just too trendy.)

Skirt: Perfect fit/length.  High quality, fully lined.  Really cute color and *LOVE* the zipper detail.  This will get a lot of use all year around for me.

Verdict: Keeper

V-Back Shirt: Love the style, colors are fun, and fabric is very nice.  I am not thrilled about the pattern and think for me its a little too trendy and not sure I would wear it after this season.

Verdict: Sent Back

Crochet Trim Shirt: It’s March, I own nothing green and this is the most beautiful hue of green.  Shirt is well made, has adorable detail and I can see getting a lot of use out of it.  I think it would be adorable paired with jeans for a night out or with black pencil skirt and blazer for work.  I’ve already wore it, so yes, its a keeper!

Verdict: Keeper

Styling sheet is one of my favorite things about Stitch Fix, you see different ways to wear the pieces, day to night or casual to work.  I also love the personalized note that my stylist left for me.  Ashli really did a great job on this box.

The million dollar question

and the one that I have gotten asked often is this…what is the cost?  I will say that while I have the parameter set to “cheaper the better”, the cost is still a little more than what I would normally pay when shopping at TJ Maxx or Marshals, but I do feel the quality of the clothing is also much nicer than I would get as well. I loved that I didn’t have to physically go to the store to shop, in my world, time is money, and spending time shopping often costs us money on the other end.  I also really appreciated that someone else was giving me fresh ideas on pieces that I may not necessarily have picked myself.  I *LOVE* the coral colored skinny jeans, but in my real world shopping would never of picked them.

Final verdict…

I will be stitch fixing again!  What’s the worse that happens, I just send it all back!  What’s the best case arisen, I keep it all and get 25% off my whole order!  Win/Win in my book!

let’s go to HAPPY HOUR

Welcome to my HAPPY HOUR!

Happy Hours have always been one of my favorite things to do. Work is done, getting together with friends and we would share all our latest finds whether it be a great deal on a pair of jeans or sweater to the latest beauty secret. We’d also talk about our recent travels and give great honest reviews about the hotels, airlines, and restaurants we visited. I’ve created this page to do just that. We can have our HAPPY HOUR all the time! I will be posting and going live with anything I find that is *amazing* and needs to be passed along. Come, browse, laugh and grow with me!

Now for the nitty gritty…
***Negativity towards me or others will not be acceptable on this page. I want honest opinions and love to explore and converse with everyone, but in a positive way.***

***Reviews and opinions are mine and mine alone! Take them or leave them. I will only review products that I have actually used or have, and places I have actually been. ***

***This page is evolving, so love and kindness is appreciated***
